Last June, I was at Theatre Squared for the Arkansas New Play Festival, working with Barbara Hammond on Visible from Four States. In May, I was at Alabama Shakespeare Festival’s Southern Writers’ Project, working on Janet Thielke’s Team Player. Last February I was part of the Colorado New Play Summit as dramaturg Eric Pfeffinger‘s comedy Human Error, which is having its premiere there.
After a year-long residency with generous and fantastic puppetry artists, I was part of the Object Movement Puppetry festival at the Center at West Park over Memorial Day weekend. Giveness, a performance with short shadow puppetry films, storytelling, and participation, first started as I interviewed seniors at the Carter Burden/Covello Center in Harlem. I shared a version of this with FEAST last year, and worked to create a more intimate, connected experience in which the performance takes place.
I’m working on Dramaturging Reading Aloud. which LMDA awarded me a Dramaturgy Driven Grant to develop.
It sounds odd to say Life ended, but the performance of Chuck Mee’s play at HERE Arts Center did. I enjoyed working with Joey Rizzolo and Joe Basile and the fantastic cast and crew.
